Number of animal experiments in Great Britain falls for second consecutive year
The UK Home Office has published the 2017 annual statistics (permalink) showing the number of animal procedures carried out in Great Britain under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, 1986; this covers all vertebrate species (and Cephalopods). In 2017 there were 3.79 million procedures carried out, down 3.7% from 2016 (3.94 million).
